NPC SW USA

The resurrection of the NPC Southwest USA was this past weekend at the Arlington Convention Center. Promoters Ed and Betty Pariso did a fantastic job with the venue and getting a wide variety of vendors, and events into the show. It was very well done, its a shame that very few NPC competitors decided to compete in this show. It's hard to say what caused the poor turnout, its in a great position with respect to the larger shows on the NPC calendar, the fact that its considered a "first year" show is probably the principal reason for poor attendance. The best part of the show was that they decided to hold the finals at 3pm. Whether this was by design or by uncontrollable circumstances I wouldn't be surprised if other NPC shows followed suit. The real advantage of an early night show has to be the fact that the starved, and dehydrated competitors can be done by early evening as opposed to late saturday night.

The NAS Strongman competition promoted by Metroflex Owner Brian Dobson was a huge success. Over 30 competitors competed in 5 events. This drew a large crowd as strongman competition is always fun to watch. There was also a very competitive powerlifting event that drew some very impressive talent.

I would like to congratulate Metroflex Plano Member Justin Malik on his 3rd place finish in the Men's Novice Lightweight class. Justin competed 3 weeks earlier at the Lonestar Classic and placed 3rd in the teen class, but at the SW USA displayed his best physique to date. Congratulations Justin! Time to EAT!!!!

Big Thanks to Sylvia Roule, Chulsey Graham, and Taylor Terry for your help at the Metroflex Plano booth!!
